Press Release for Eastington News. November 19th 2015
As we go to press, a car-load of documents was due to leave Eastington on a historic journey to the regional HQ of the Heritage Lottery Fund in Exeter.
There, the Cotswold Canals Trust and its partners were to deliver their final submission in the £15 million bid to restore the Stroudwater Navigation from Stonehouse to Saul.
An answer to the bid is expected next April. By this time, the first section of canal restoration from Brimscombe through Stroud is expected to be nearing completion.
If successful, development work on the new section would begin immediately, with a target date for the completed link to the national canal network within seven years.
