Well, it seems a long time since the last organised walk.

Where has the Summer gone ? !!

Our last walk was on 18th September  from the ' Badger '.   About 16 people turned-up and the weather was reasonable ( it didn't rain!! )   We walked to Cress Green, then over to the ' Viaduct ' and then onto St. Cyrs' Church by Stonehouse Court.   A short stop by ' The Ocean ', then a return walk along the canal tow-path back to Chipmans Platt. A short distance then, back to the ' Badger

-It turned out to be about a two-hour walk. So, well done to everyone who turned out !

It's been lovely the last few weeks to pick, and eat, fresh blackberries whilst walking along the hedgerows with my dog. I don't know if it's a ' sign of the times ', but I never seem to see anyone ' Blackberrying ' these days !!

I believe that the next walk will be on Sunday 16th of October, but, check the notice boards to make sure.

Some people find it difficult to do long walks, so, If anybody is interested in doing ' shorter ' walks during week-days, please let me know, and I will see what can be arranged. (  phone 824452 )

Next PROWD meeting : Monday 3rd October 10:00

at The Kings Head Hotel.

Another wonderful surprise these last two weeks, has been to see a small flock of Curlew in the fields near Wicksters Brook.

They are very shy birds and it is almost impossible to get close to them before they fly off, making their characteristic ' Curlew ' cry.

They tend to circle once, then fly off, with the silvery sheen of their wings glinting in the sunshine.
