The Ecotricity development  is most definitely NOT a done deal.

At the moment it IS ONLY a planning application - long delayed by deficiencies such as lack of adequate traffic analyses -  but there is a chance that it could come before the Planning Committee this September.

It will only be permitted  if you want it to be  -  or it can be stopped.

You might relish the idea of the crowds and excitement that a stadium might offer,  or be attracted by the idea of new business premises on Jn 13  - OR - you might be horrified that it would change the village, destroy William Morris College, bring more traffic problems and ‘break’  the Local Plan - opening  the door for more unscheduled development here.     

ECN  is your voice - a chance to  express what you, the residents of Eastington Parish AS A WHOLE, really think about this.

A good response to this poll will give  our collective voice  some real authority.   ECN will analyse the results and  let you and the Planners know what that collective voice is saying.

I  support a football stadium and the proposed business/ industrial estate along the A419 because:-

• I think a stadium with football matches, pop concerts etc.  would be good for the local community
• I think it would be great for Stroud
•  I believe we will get the improvements we need to make the traffic flow  better round J13
• Nailsworth will be saved from the congestion and traffic problems currently experienced because of Forest Green Rovers
• Now that FGR are promoted, we need a bigger stadium
• 4,000 new jobs would be created in Eastington.
• I don't think the Local Plan is important - I did not vote for it.

I  object  to a football stadium and the proposed business/ industrial estate along the A419 because:-

• It would destroy yet more green fields and dramatically alter the rural character of our village & hamlets
• A stadium would generate too much noise, disturbance, nuisance and traffic during football matches and other large events (e.g. pop concerts)  - in what is currently a tranquil environment.
• It would attract too much traffic to this one place, clogging junction 13, the A419 and surrounding roads even more than they are now at peak times of day.   No good solution has been proposed.
• It would destroy William Morris College.
• It would not 'create' 4000 new jobs, but it would:

1. draw existing industries and business  away from population centres like Stroud
2.  inhibit the development of planned  industrial parks in other places like Dursley, which need them.

• It is not in the democratically accepted Local Plan.  Allowing this now would undermine all future planning decisions and open the door to even more  ‘unplanned’ development here and throughout the district.
