By the community, for the community

Dear all

We have had a few good days and for a moment it felt like summer had arrived, but as I write this it is dull and overcast. However it did mean that the last few days of the Stroud District Council Election Campaign saw us delivering leaflets in the sunshine.

So we now have the results of the new Severn Ward, which has Eastington as part of a 2 District Councillor Ward with Whitminster, Frampton, Saul and Arlingham.

John Jones             Conservative              723  Votes      Elected

Stephen Davies      Conservative              721  Votes      Elected

Tom Lydon               Labour                         446  Votes

Reginald Howe          Liberal Democrat          353  Votes

Robin Lewis              Green Party                  291  Votes

I am very honoured to be re-elected to represent Eastington and we look forward to continue the work on ensuring the West of Stonehouse Development is the best we can make it and challenging the Ecotricity proposal.

John Jones was the Councillor for the old Severn Ward and therefore brings significant knowledge and experience.  We are committed to serve all the people of Severn Ward regardless of whether they vote for us or not.

The overall result for the District is that the Conservatives remain the largest Party with 23 Seats (down from 24) but without an overall majority. A coalition of Labour with 18 seats (no change) Green Party 8 seats (Up from 6) and Liberal Democrats with 2 seats (down from 3) look to continue to run the District Council.

With the election out of the way we can focus on getting the best for our area and seek agreement when we can.
